March-17,2008 – Dalit Christians attacked – reported by newindpress
This problem was still burning with Christian Vanniars, NOT willing to accomodate the dalit christians in the same church. They demanded to give separate church for the dalit christians.
Now see, how “The Hindu had downplayed this incident.”
They reported, that the archbishop is promising equal access to dalit christians.
Some Questions and Inferences:
1. Why kandhamal Violence in Orissa was so much sensitised, while this incident is downplayed?
2. When reporting any dalit case in Hinduism, its again sensitised so much. Teesta stalwad would protest, medha patkar will undertake fast, and marxist will start their barking. Almost in all newspapers, there would be an article, on how Hinduism is evil, and ridden with evil caste.
Why there is complete downplaying of this events both locally and nationally. is there rule, that anything happening under christian banner should not be reported or taken seriously?
3. This incident exposed the fallacy of the christian missionaries claims, that christianity promotes equality. While its a fact, that the missionaries doesnt accept or give equality to other sects of the same faith, like protestants vs catholics.
4. More importantly, this incident proved that the caste clash is more of a social problem rather than religious problem. Infact, its not the caste, but the enmity b/w the castes, that’s the problem. There is no religious doctrine in caste to attack others. Most of the clashes are due to mis-understanding and historic rivalry.
But, the christian missionaries, had successfully established, that caste is a Hindu problem, hiding the very fact, that europoean society was full of brutal slave system, even under 1000 years of christianity.
5. Why hadnt, christian missionaries, eliminated the caste problem even though the people of eraiyur village converted some 100 years back. This is a proof that missionaries are concerned at converting people, and not serving the people. Once a people is converted, then they are ignored, as the missionary purpose is solved. The problem suddenly disappears for the preachers, even though there would be no change in the lives of the converts, except for change of god.
6. Where are those dalit organisations gone? Infact, they should have protested. But unlike in the previous cases, this time, the missionaries had switched off their media button.

Note:
This is targetted only at christian missionaries. I dont have any issues with normal christians.
Rest left to the readers.
as a Hindu i don’t care about what other religion people do be it Christians or Muslims.
but the eraiyur incident seems more pathetic then any Hindu incident, since the idea of Christianity was that everyone was equal. Unlike Hinduism where we had caste related grouping for long, but at least we are trying to remove it.
what do you suppose should be done such that caste is removed from once and all?
After caste another reason people convert because of allurement. Shoudn’t we hindus come up a with a FUND to help these poor hindus such that they lead a better life?
P.S
regarding kandhamal, killing/looting won’t solve any issues, we should be more mature then that.
Clearly, Vanniers have not yet received the Christian message. Clearly also caste is a fear system that keeps India feudal with Dalit slaves maintaining the foundations. I think that violence is the usual outcome for social revolution. Indians don’t have to accept this fate, yet it seems inevitable if they don’t face it squarely and embrace the outcast, exposing “ritual pollution” for the nonsense it is.
