The women’s sabarimala

Just came across this news, and felt sharing it.

This is a pongal festival at Attukul Bagawathy amman temple in kerala, where lakhs of women throng to offer their prayer through pongal. Just as main sabarimala temple is for males, this amman temple is only for women.

Women prepare the prasadam , to be offered to the Goddess to invoke her blessings for peace and prosperity. THe prasadam consists of rice, jaggery, coconut and spices.

This festival was marked in Guinness Book of World Records in 1997, for the sheer number of women.

THis year they are expecting around 25 lakh women.

WIth daily devotees of around 1 million, ie 10 lakh women, this is one of the major festival in kerala.

Some inferences:

Many of our indian elites, and particularly, the feminists were attacking the sabarimala temple, that its discriminatory to women. They demanded, that women should also be allowed to enter, without ever minding the traditions and purpose of the “Male only” restriction.

I dont know what they will say for this women ony temple.. will they say, its discriminatory for males?

WIll they ever respect the traditions of Hinduism, and see it in right perspective? WIll they ever realise that these restrictions are also accepted by crores of women in Hinduism?

More importantly, unlike christianity, where women is not allowed inside churches, and women are not allowed to become pope, we have this separate temple for women.

Again the feminists and those self proclaimed saviours of women :) will say, this is exception .. i will ask them.. Does a festival and temple attended by 25 lakh women is an exception? Even if we consider it as exception, show me any one such thing in the other semitic religions?

But the response of those persons will be “I am not concerned with all those.. i will simply throw dirt at Hinduism as much as possible”..

Dirty Minority politics in Andhra – Is this secularism?

Recently came across the following news, on AP government providing subsidy to christian pilgrimage.

http://www.ibnlive.com/news/andhra-goes-all-out-to-woo-minorities/59401-3.html?xml

Some key points:

  1. Rs 2 crore for Christian pilgrims visiting the holy sites in Israel;
  2. Rs 5 crore for mass marriages of Christians, Muslims and other minorities
  3. Rs 5 crore for mosque and church repairs and maintenance.
  4. 4 per cent quota for Muslims in government jobs

Is it Fair & Just?
I do not ask the above question to pseudo secularist.. there’s no use in it.

But let me ask the Indian elites and the educated upper class. Because, they are the influential people who support minorityism in this country.

Some questions:

  • In which country is there exists a pilgrimage for christians? As far as i know, there is no such practice in christianity, similar to Haj.  There should be some secretive agenda behind this..
  • In what way, theYSR justified in announcing this sops?
  • Why no packages to Thousand of Hindu Temples which remains dilipated, under government control. Why aid only to churches & mosques, that too controlled by private organisations.
  • Why media silent/supportive on this.  They opposed Mass Surya Namaskar organised in MP. They opposed starting yoga courses in universities during NDA.
  • Why no packages to poor people in Hinduism.  Does poverty get recognized only in form of minority?
  • Why should government give 4 percent quota for muslims, even after knowing that this is unconstitutional. Why the media doesnt oppose this? And why our elites did not oppose this?
  • Is anything done under minorityism right?

Some inferences:

The announcement of these sops, has more meaning than just minority upliftment. I could list out the following consequencs.

  • The flexing of christian missionaries influence over government. This indicates that european history is repeating in india.  Equivalent to catholics converting constantinople, and destroyed europoean culture.
    • By giving assistance and incentives only to minority and ignoring majority poor people, a condition is created where only when one converts, he would get all governmental incentives. This is strategic game plan, executed by christian missionaries.  This makes the argument void that Conversion can be allowed if it helps poor. Because, the assistance to Hindu poors are checkmated, by using governmental control. And the very fact, that helping only on conversion is the worst discrimination.
    • This can be equated to special packages announced by constantinople, to all those converts, and making pagan worship costly and unfeasible.
    • No package announced to maintain Hindu temples. Its estimated that in Andra around 30,000 temples are starved of funds, while 1200 rich temples are under government control. Again equivalent to  missionaries using constantinople, taking over european pagan temples and leaving it to degrade on its own.
  • This incident shows tha the  leader (YSR) got elected by Hindu majority by concealing his religious identity, but associates himself to a foreign country, and becomes hostile to Hindu Majority.
  • The central team headed by a incapable catholic christian Antonia Maino. And the states ruled by congress are all headed by christian chief ministers. Is India has anything under its control?
  • These leader owe their allegience to vatican and a religion, which considers idol worship as evil, a practice followed by 80% of india’s population? This means, these leader facilitate conversion using governmental powers.  The past 4 years under congress rule shows the same.
  • With excellent marketing skills, the missionaries target political leaders. The control would be in many form, like converting them, or to checkmate them, or to finance them . Many of western governments (eg. BUSH) are behind these missionary, thus multiplying their power with strategic backing.
  • Chandrababu naidu is believed to be secret christian. In tamilnadu, Vaiko is a christian. And other political parties are hijacked with mass voting of christians, who are influenced by these missionaries.
  • When such hostile leaders at this highest power, the Hindu Poor are deliberately kept under poverty by simply failing to uplift them, so that missionaries utilise this to for their conversion. Again the argument of allowing conversion to help poor gets void.
  • What should the Hindus do in this occasion? Do the Indian elites advise them to give in, just like gandhiji asked the jews to submit them to hitler?
  • Can these incidents make us understand why the government neglect anything related to majority people. Yoga is not supported. Traditional arts, bharatanatyams are not supported. Leela samson is a christian now head of kalakshetra. She did not allow her students to particpate in Sri Sri ravishankar’s function, stating that its a hindu festival.  Who installed her there?
  • No research in to india’s past. No support to Hindu temples. To enact policies that’s always hostile to Hinduism so that it suffers from more problems.

Many people believe, that Hindusim cannot be destroyed as has 1 billion people.. But, with such level of power play enacted by missionaries, as exhibited in Andhra, is it not, that much of population could be targetted in another 50 years?

The fact is that it requires only 30-40% of the population to be converted to reach the critical mass. Today, korea has 50% christians, and no other than a christian can become prime minister. And the same case of North east states of india.

Secondly, how just is to allow this gross injustice, just because hindus are majority. Its akin to supporting bribes, saying it will not collapse economy. The spinover is unthinkable.

I have earlier mentioned about joshua project . Clearly, the plan envisioned there is implemented in various forms in India.

The recent happenings also shows this. The sabarimala issue, the hiding of 900 deaths in kerala retreat center, the guruvayur temple issue, Tirupathi temple issues like destruction of 1000 pillar mandapa… Its open secret who are all behind this..

Where this will lead to?

At present, the target of missionaries is to convert 10-15% of the people.  When this target is achieved, then this votebank is used to bargain with politicians.  Will lead to christian reservation, as happened in Tamilnadu.

I often wondered, that is it not the worst discrimination, to segregate people on religion, and then cornet government incentive only for them.  It leads to more marginalisation of Hindu poors, added with checkmating all sources of funds for Hindu leaders.  Tirupathi temple, guruvayur temple, sabarimala temple, all are under government control, but major source of donations.  Its a carrot & stick formula..  accusing Hindu leaders of not doing anything, and projecting as they are the only saviours..

Do our middle class and indian elites understand this?  Do they still convince themselves of poverty as reason ignoring grave threats?

Again i dont understand, why those missionaries under control of foreign countries, (mainly vatican), gains immense respect, while any leader from Hinduism, is looked down upon are not respected much.  Sri Sri Ravishankar is most rational & sensible person from Hinduism.  But, there lot of attempts to defame him.  There was partial success, by projecting him as exploiting yoga commercially.

had we become so infected with slavery and inferiority complex that, whatever said by white people appears valuable, and anything from indian leaders appears as crack :) .

Another example.. Why Congress appears as good people , and BJp appears as evil?

Some recent archealogical findings

I just came across these two archelogical findings..  These all remind us that there are plenty of such things buried under, for which no effort is taken by our government..

The following findings are also occasional and by chance.

A 1200 years old Ishwaran temple..  It was found by  chance when a social activity was done..

Note.. how the hindu mischievedly reported this news as below.

The main deity is Madhayana Eswarar. Also present are images of Lord Vinayaka and the phallic symbol inscribed on a granite stone .

Doesnt N.RAM know that its called as lingam?  No end to this marxist hatred for Hinduism.. some one sarcastically called THe Hindu as “Mount Road Mao” :)

http://www.hindu.com/2008/02/15/stories/2008021556580100.htm

A 1200 years old pallava inscriptions..

http://www.hindu.com/2008/02/14/stories/2008021454540600.htm

I think, only god knows, how far these findings are properly researched in to..  The ASI in India is mostly used to hide historic information rather than explore it..  as evident from its recent report that “There is no proof that Ram  Existed”

Why isnt our people demanding proper research in to our history, and proper exploration of all our findings..

There are small efforts going on here and there..

A group of professionals in chennai are attempting to document all dilipated temples around chenai.  you can see all their findings at templesrevival.blogspot.com

The silence of the good and learned does much more harm to Hinduism an d India than the activities of the bad people.

Why isn’t the media accountable? – part -2

In part-1  i described about how Graham Staine’s burning case has been extremely sensationalised and exploited.  This incident has been heavily propoganded in the international arena, for two purposes..  one is to defame india, and the second is to project as if Christians are persecuted in India, so that more funds would be collected to drive conversion..

In this post, let me analyse, some more incidents, where the same tactics has been used..

———————————————————————

Truth about Rape of four missionary nuns in Jhabua in September 1998:

As usual, the media reported that it was done by VHP, Bajrangdal, and projected as if Hindutva forces are persecuting minorities. The international press followed indian media, and echoed the same.

But, later, the investigation revealed that “The rape was an intra-christian mess, and the Hindutva people had no connection with this one.

But none of the newspapers mentioned this finding. The damage was already done to the reputation of india, as propogated by these medias. And the finding of these truth, doesnt help any one.. Justice denied, and hidden, in this case.

But, yet, many of our intellectuals, believe the false propoganda done by the media.

I am also quoting francois gautier, who directly interacted with the affected nuns and his findings are given below.

Yet I went to Jhabua and met the four adorable nuns, who themselves admitted, along with their bishop George Anatil, that it had nothing to do with religion – it was the doing of a gang of Bhil tribals, known to perpetrate this kind of hateful acts on their own women. Yet today, the Indian Press, the Christian hierarchy and the politicians, continue to include the Jhabua rape in the list of the atrocities against the Christians.”

Truth about Attacks on Christian Prayer Halls at Dang, Gujarat:

Its just another incident, where the names ofVHP, RSS were accused immediately after the incident, even before investigation started. The following rediff link has list of all reports on dang violence in gujarat, and is an example, how this dang incident is reported in a biased manner.

http://www.rediff.com/news/dang.htm

I am recommending this link, because, it contained reports from both christians and Hindutva people.

Waynad Incident in Kerala:

It was accused that four nuns and a priest was beaten up, and as usual, FIR was lodged on VHP & other RSS outfits, protest march done, and news sensationalised internationally. But an intrepid reporter from the Calicut office of the Indian Express found out, nobody was beaten up and the Bible was safe. I could not get the report of this IE reporter, but i am giving the findings of Francois gautier and arvind Lavarke.

But,the damage was already done, and still that false news was quoted in many occasions.

Rape of one Sister Jacqueline Mary in Gadadeuilia, Baripada district in Orissa:

The media reported this event as persecution of christians, and sensationalised it to great extent that 24 US Lawmakers met Prime Minster vajpayee and expressed concern over this.

But later, New Indian express found that it was a false case filed by her, and she was not raped as she reported.

But, this truth did not find place in any of the medias, and still the false propoganda is officially used.

Latest Biased Reporting from Economist:

Very recently, i came across this reporting of economist, which on the first reading itself, is very clear that its a completely biased reporting. Its an attempt to project christian missionaries good & peaceful, while Hindus or Hindutva as evil.. Its a hero villain concept that they are attempting to establish.

(To demolish this holyness of missionaries myth, i am providing this link, which i came across… http://www.bishop-accountability.org/WhoWeAre/ .. even the christians in the west are fed up of bishop’s abuse and they have created abuse tracker..

Why i am giving this.. because, after reading this, i got the anger which i would get, when some marauders come and accuse me of pencil theft… What quality does the missionaries have to accuse Hinduism? )

Interestingly, they have acknowledged that the missionaries are in full spree of conversion, that creates so much riffled across the tribal communities. But, they cleverly sidelined this and projected the whole news as christian persecution.

This is what they said.

It is true that an expansionist evangelist movement is in full swing in India’s tribal belt. Its targets are tribal people, Hindus, even Christians, many of whom say they have switched churches to join independent Pentecostal groups

And let me put in straight words of what they are telling. ie, what i infer from their news, which they cleverly hidden. (ie,the news has to be interpreted like this to understand the reality)
“Its true that missionaries are converting, and their target is mainly Hindu tribals, and christians of other churches. And due to this, there were lot of tensions and clashes among converted and non-converted tribal people, and as a result, the converts & missionaries are some times attacked. But, we would accuse onlyVHP/RSS :) as they are preventing us from converting the rest of the tribal people.”

I dont have any other better interpretation of that news.

Some Articles on Media Bias:

A column in dailypioneer

A warped Indian media by francois gautier

Conclusions:

There are more such incidents, happeneing, which are again concealed manipulated and deliberately mis-reported. In most of the incidents, the incident happens mostly b/w converted christians who deliberately violates the customs of non-christian tribals of their community, encouraged by the church fathers and other missionaries. Since the converted people continue to live among the non-converted ones, their activities become completely hostile to the traditional customs, out of which Hindu tribal people feel offended. As they are illiterate, and do not know the dirty politics that these missionaries play, they have no other option but to resort to violence.

I will conclude with the following words of Francois Gautier in his article

Why does the Indian Press always reflect a Westernised point of view? Why does
India’s intellectual “elite”, the majority of which happens to be Hindu, always come
down so hard on their own culture, their own religion, their own brothers and
sisters? Is it because of an eternal feeling of inferiority, which itself is a legacy of
British colonisation? Is it because they consider Hindus to be inferior beings
remember the words of Claudius Bucchanan, a chaplain attached to the East India
Company: “….Neither truth, nor honesty, honour, gratitude, nor charity, is to be
found in the breast of a Hindoo”!

The silence of the Educated & Good people Do more harm to the Hinduism than the activities of the hostile & people..”

India-Israel.. the secret will remain secret

I came across this article, in outlook. It was an interview with Mark Sofer, the new israeli ambassador to india.

Isreal has been a voluntary friend of India, and they have helped us during Kargil, with their technology and expertise.  The india-israel relation was  one of the highly secretive but with valuable.

There was an interesting history..  Pakistan pilots flew war planes of arab countries, and destroyed three of their fighters..  In retaliation, israel, helped india during 1971 war with their sophisticated guns, and during kargil war, by providing satellite maps and key intelligence inputs..

Israel has great reverence for india, since india was the only country where jews lived with respect without harrasment & discrimination.  Today, israel could be the most well wisher and reliable friend for india than any other country.

I think, this article is one of the pragmatic, and most professional interview by israeli ambassador.. Just want to share this in my blog..

I liked two answers from this article , and i am reproducing here..

…………………..

Do you think India could help moderate Iran’s stand?

I can ask you back that a president who has called for the eradication of an entire country (Israel), a president who has denied the Holocaust, who has decided that the massacre of the Jews by the Nazis didn’t exist–is this a person who can go towards moderation? Has anyone tried to convince Bin Laden to be moderate? There are certain personalities who will never be moderate. And it is not a question of dialogue. (Grows agitated) What am I going to discuss with him? That Israel shouldn’t be destroyed or only a little bit destroyed? My own death? Please don’t call for my mass murder? Or that I would like if you kill only half of me? What are we talking here? I am sure serious Iranians feel in their hearts that calls for the massacre of Jews in Israel is despicable. Yet he continues to say it. What do you discuss with him — he knows or ought to know.

……………..

………………
Israeli tourists have a negative image in the Indian media. Any comments?

There is always a chasm between image and reality. It is human nature to extrapolate from one or two cases and put the onus on the 40,000 Israeli who come here every year and who come here for the main part to understand the Indian way of life for which we have the greatest respect. It is an African saying that if you put one stone in a basket of 150 eggs, all the eggs will break but the stone will remain. You have one bad example, the 150 good examples will be tarred with the same brush. We receive so much inner tranquility from the depth and culture of India that the contribution to Israeli society is much more than people think. And it is all positive.

…………………………….

And i liked the above highlighted quote much.. its very true for indians too.. Not just 150.. we are putting few stones over thousands of eggs.. :)

Why isn’t the media accountable? – part – 1

Recently I came across this article byArvind Lavarke, which gives some alternate insights in to how media had played havoc, by exploiting some of the religious incidents, by quoting out of context, and in some times, completely lies. I will qoute some of his findings..

Graham Staines’ Incident:

In Staines burning case, CBI concluded beofore court that there was no evidence to corrobate the claim, that dara singh belonged to Hindutva outfits. But the media, which conducted massive campaign sensitising and internationalising this issue, did not mention this, and other findings. Infact, the media started criticising the commissions report, because its report doesnt suit their propoganda. (eg: Hindu’s articles.. its widely known, The Hindu is a marxist dominated paper)

In the above Hindu article, the CBI findings was that staine’s team, converted Ho and Santal community to christianity, and made them practise a culture that would violate the sentiments of existing tribal communities.

Examples of such deliberate disturbances are,

  • making converted people eat beef in the colony of Hindu tribals,
  • playing christian songs deliberately during Hindu marriages,
  • making the Converted tribals to plough in the land, after Raja Festival, at the time, when the Hindu tribals, considered as religious to keep the land undisturbed for three days after the festival.

So, the findings of the report, clearly indicates, staines had a secret agenda of converting the tribals, under the disguise of leprosy eradication. IT is to be noted, that there is not even a single case of leprosy in the area he operated.
Binod Kishore Das, a doctor of medicine degree holder from the US, was a weekly visitor to Staines’ leprosy home in Baripada. He told the Commission Staines had a great hatred for other religions, that though he would be simply dressed he lived a lavish lifestyle, that he had modern gadgets in his home and that even for a minor disease he would go to either Jamshedpur or Calcutta. (Contrary to the media claim)

He also testified the following.

  • “Though Staines was a close friend, he never told him as to what was the jungle camp. But he had heard of the jungle camps (where, among other things, people were given instructions in Bible teaching by speakers arranged by Staines). Staines kept all this a closely guarded secret.”
  • “Staines had a great hatred for other religions. If there was a function in anybody’s house, he would not eat there.”
  • “As the honorary superintendent of the Leprosy Home, he maintained all accounts himself.”

While “His (Staines’) missionary activities did lead to conversions of tribals to his faith,” not a single declaration of conversion was made before a Magistrate as required by rules framed under Orissa Freedom of Religion Act, 1967. This is in clear violation of law, and if alive, he should be put behind the bars. He was not a holy man, as propogated by the media.. he was a foreigner, who came on for conversion agenda, and in that proces, violated many laws..
The Wadhwa Commission itself found a report of January-February 1999 containing Staines’ description of the Sanatan Dharma as ‘an animist sect.’

This article has reports that large scale conversion could have led to the killinof staines..

Some testimonies of witness to the commission..

http://www.hvk.org/specialrepo/wadhwa/Witnesses.html

Some inferences:

The media projected Graham staines as one of the saviour, and who came here for uplifting downtrodden & poor people.. And that such person was burnt by those tribals.. and without any proof, RSS, VHP names were dragged and they were heavily demonised. By coordinated reporting of all major indian medias, and through that, international medias, a sensationalised environment was created, where even judge went on reading his hatred, rather than judgement.

The important fact was the same media, which heavily used the RSS & VHP names for demonising, did not even mention that it was wrong, after the commission found that there was no proof that these organisations were involved, and that this incident was a highly localised one, arising out of tensions created among tribal communities, deliberately done the missionaries, and in this case by Graham Staines.

But all these will not convince our intellectuals, and pseudo-secularist, and those laksh of genuine good people, who frame their opinion on these newspaper reportings.

They will simply say.. “What ever the reason.. Burning of Staines was Barbarious..”

I gree 100%. it was barbaric..

But, in what way, graham staines’ life was holier than those 56 Hindu Kar sevaks, burnt in sabarmati express?

How many times, the same media even cared for those 56 people? Is it because, graham staines was a white man, that we all should repent for his death, while those 56 people are ordinary Hindu citizens, whose life is worthless?

Its up to the concerned person to introspect himself.. how he felt differently for those 56 lives, and this one man.
Even a noble values that we believe, become worthless, if it becomes selective , partial and biased..

Another aspect is that when Graham staines is burnt, countries from all over the world, condemned, put pressure on Indian government, and created various human right report condemning one such incident.

But, how many times indian government even uttered a word, whenever Hindus face persecution, massacre, discrimination all over the world? Particularly in pakistan, bangladesh, malaysia, kenya etc.

Wadhwa Commission’s Recommendation:

After finding all these evidences, the commission recommended the following, which is clear indication of existing biased situation.

  • Media, both print and electronic, has also to exercise restraint. Screaming headlines should be avoided which have the effect of misleading the public and creating more tension and suspicion among different communities. Reporting of communal strife should not be done without proper verification or an ordinary crime given a communal twist.’
  • There should be a Code of Conduct for the political parties’ whereby ‘Leaders cannot make statements merely for gaining political mileage. Their statements should be subdued and not to fan the fire when the atmosphere is communally charged. Allow the police to make independent investigation of the crime uninfluenced by politics or religion or caste.

I will continue with more examples in the second part later..

SEZ – A constructive approach – learning from our traditional setup..

Long ago, i came across the following link.. Titled “Lessons for Nandigram”, the content of the news, actually reflected the title.

http://www.outlookindia.com/full.asp?fodname=20080204&fname=SEZ+%28F%29&sid=1

As per this article, the people of the village named avasari khurd, 40 km from pune, came forward and setup their own SEZ with everyone being the stakeholder. Initially, the land value is at 1.5 lakhs per acre, but when they started registering their company, and alloted the land to a developer, the land value shot up to 2 crore per acre. But, the interesting point is that the villagers , still live in their own land, and reap the benefits of SEZ, thus witnessing a collective growth.

Its really a positive news. I read it long back, and stored it as draft.. I dont know whether it has now materialized in to success or not. But the concept is all inclusive one.

I had few reservation over the above attempt. Agriculture is not even considered as an entity. They had setup agro based units, but from where do they source agricultural products. Ok.. if from the surrounding areas, then it means, those who are involved in agriculture is still impoverished, unable to realise the benefits of this SEZ.

Why cant it be like, both agriculture and industry co-exist with each other? I would like to extend the above SEZ, that has most fertile land used for agriculture for feeding the local people, and the remaining for real estate and industries. By this, everyone will share the infrastructure, and particularly, the area will be a self-sustained one. Its somwhat similar to Kibutzu of israel.

When i read dharampal’s description of our villages, i could not resist comparing with the above concept of SEZ. In our traditional setup, most of the villages had been self-sufficient, with all facilities, like education, irrigational infrastructure, medical persons, mid wives, a local chief to govern, a temple, and a gram sabha, to discuss their daily problems. A council headed by the chief would provide justice to any issues arising out of that village.

There were right mix of people, from all sections. Predominant vellalars controlled the region, while the vysyas traded, shudras provided labour, and a local police, gaurding the village. (In traditional tamil villages, still we can see people known as “Kaavakaaran”.. particularly, in our area, the vanniar people provided this policing service. ) . The industrious people, produced goods and sold it abroad. (Karur & Musri area of Tamilnadu, was famous for overseas tradition, with Roman and greek empires, before christ..).

There were no private property, and there was no concept of land ownership. The king appoints a leader, who overseas all internal affairs. The local chief will allocate land to different sections of people. All those who use the land has to pay taxes to the temple. Those who did not pay taxes continuously for years, will be evicted out of that land.

For those aged, and childrens, the temple served as public entity where they had ample space to leisure and play. When there was any death, the village chief will arrange for the funerals, and consoling the family. When there was a birth, the same would make sure, the midwives attended the people.

The most important striking feature is that the economy is highly local. ie, the village has to pay certain amount (around 20%) to the king, and the rest is used locally. Hence, every village was almost wealthy, and hence none of our people took to begging or suffered from poverty, before britishers conquest. At times of draught, the prospering region came forward to help those people. (there was mention in our history, that the kongu chiefs fed the madurai people, when the river vaigai, dried up)

There are lot other things that describe our traditional setup. Particularly, gandhi’s article in young india, as available through dharampal’s book, gives us lot of insight. Unfortunately, we had never realised the true picture of our society, and rather, carried away by the poverty ridden villages, that arised out of british exploitation. I am not an expert in this, but, the more i learn, the more it fascinates. Particularly, my initial 10 years of life, living a complete village life, gave me some inputs, in understanding the village descriptions available in dharampla’s books.

let me come to the point.. In what way, knowing these details help us?

I will do a post later in the coming days, on how i feel we could have been a developed nation, if we had understood our history properly and pursued our inherent strength..

But, before that, can you relate anything on the above description of the tradition village, with what i have said in the beginning of this article?

Please share your views.

Peace, hypocrisy and business – comment on jews by Arun Gandhi

Do you feel, any relation b/w all these three words.  I could sense, after looking at the issue that Arun Gandhi generated recently.  He has setup an institute “MK Gandhi institute of Peace” and ran his business over there.   It seems, peace has become a business and a commodity. Some few people think, they are the only custodians of peace.  And to me Arun Gandhi appears one among them.

He made this peace, a commodoty, and started prescribing it to every sections.  Can we call him a “Peace consultant” .. probably, another word “dubious” can be inserted before them :)

Ok.. let us come to the issue..  In an online discussion in washington post blog, arun gandhi seems to have said, that jews should not overplay their holocaust history.  and he went on further to proclaim “Any nation that remains anchored to the past is unable to move ahead and, especially a nation that believes its survival can only be ensured by weapons and bombs” .  This post evoked strong response and received as much as 438 comments
This in my opinion is to rekindle the wounds of one’s millenia of suffering.  I could remember the Nehru’s idiocity, when he said “Why should we need army.. we had got independance ” :) ..  Thank god, nehru stopped just with his suggestion, and did not disband it..  And Arun Gandhi’s comment is not less a crap than those of Nehru’s.

He had definitely, extended his hand in to snake’s den..  Probably, he has mis-calculated, rather, over confident, that being grandson of MK Gandhi, what ever he says would be accepted by all..  He had definitely played down the worst sufferings for two thousand years, faced by jews, and  how they had struggled to form their nation, out of all odds..  and more importantly, the death trap that they are living still now with all surrounding nations, ready to tear it in to pieces.

Probably, he should explain, why dont he advocate the same to palestinians, and America and britain?  Why only jews or israel?

He might have thought that just like Hindus, who had forget their worst history, inspite of a mountain named “HinduKush” marking their genocide,  Jews would also would have forget their history, so that he can play on it in whatever way he can.  Gandhian illusion dispersed long ago, and today’s generation had come out of that depressed mentality, and instead, started realising Peace in its real term..

And Not to mention, the jews had demonstrated, that they meant business.  No public protest.  No official protest.  No demand for apology.  But, everything happened, in their lines.  They had demonstrated, they cannot compromise their morality and pride to some one, who sits in a AC room and provides immatured advocacy . (in popular tami, karuthu kandasamy :) )

Popular Columnist Ramesh N Rao has written a detailed article in daily pioneer over this issue…  due to permalink problem of that site, i have included the whole article below…..

colourful and mixed than any post-modernist parable. Some in the
family have leveraged the Mahatma’s name to carve out a career for
themselves, and of them, one grandson, Mr Arun Gandhi, came to the
United States to launch his programme of non-violence. He founded the
MK Gandhi Institute For Non-violence.

Mr Arun Gandhi was recently in the news. Invited by The Washington
Post to contribute to an online discussion, ‘On Faith’, he wrote,
“Jewish identity in the past has been locked into the holocaust
experience — a German burden that the Jews have not been able to
shed. It is a very good example of how a community can overplay a
historic experience to the point that it begins to repulse friends.”

Not content with that initial salvo, he asserted that the “Jewish
identity in the future appears bleak”, and any nation that “remains
anchored to the past is unable to move ahead and, especially a nation
that believes its survival can only be ensured by weapons and bombs”.
Finally, he went overboard, saying that “Israel and the Jews are the
biggest players” in the modern “culture of violence”.

More than 400 responses flooded the newspaper. Mr Gandhi wrote a
half-hearted apology, poorly worded. He wrote that he had criticised
other Governments too and so his criticism of the Israeli Government
was not special. He then speciously commented that
“… (if) people
hold on to historic grievances too firmly it can lead to bitterness
and the loss of support from those who would be friends”.

He did not tell his readers why he had singled out Jews. Don’t Muslims
all over the world hold historic grievances, not just against the
Jews, but also against many other groups? And is not the continuing
violence in West Asia based on a concerted effort by surrounding
Muslim nations that have vowed to wipe Israel off the map of the
world?

Given the tepid and defensive “apology”, readers wrote back even more
angrily. Mr Abraham Foxman of the Anti-Defamation League said, “I
think it’s shameful that a peace institute would be headed up by a
bigot… One would hope that the grandson of such an illustrious human
being would be more sensitive to Jewish history.”
Mr Judea Pearl,
father of slain journalist Daniel Pearl, said, “My son Daniel died
mighty proud of his Jewish identity. He, like the millions of decent
and peace-seeking Israelis, and Americans who proudly carry on their
Jewish heritage, did not see his identity as ‘dependent on violence’
as the title of Gandhi’s article implies…
“.

Soon, Mr Gandhi submitted his resignation as president of the MK
Gandhi Institute of Non-Violence. Given the incendiary nature of the
flap, the University of Rochester, where the institute is located,
accepted his resignation.

This brings us to the more important question about Mr Gandhi, which
others have not asked: Was his blog entry an aberration, a single
instance of misjudgement and analysis, or was this part of an ongoing
pattern of selective attacks and selective support to religious
groups?

The Mahatma had advised Jews, when they faced extinction at the hands
of the Nazis, “… to lay down the arms you have… You will invite
Herr Hitler and Signor Mussolini to take what they want of the
countries you call your possessions…”. Louis Fisher, Gandhi’s
biographer, asked him: “You mean that the Jews should have committed
collective suicide?” Gandhi responded, “Yes, that would have been
heroism.
” May be, his grandson wants the same.

The Mahatma was consistent in his advice to Hindus, too. When faced
with violence perpetrated by Muslims, he asked them to not fight back
but die “honourably”. [:) :) ] Many Hindus succumbed to the Mahatma’s advice,
and hundreds of thousands of Hindus were killed, raped and assaulted,
over a period of three decades that the Mahatma’s writ ran over India.

Gandhi never advised Muslims to lay down their arms. He sang, “Ishwar,
Allah tere naam” but did not acknowledge that Muslims would never
accept Allah be called anything but Allah. He did not ask Muslims to
look into their hearts and find why they so hated their Hindu
neighbours and fellow countrymen.

In an essay I had raised the question as to what would have happened
had the Mahatma not backed Jawaharlal Nehru to become India’s first
Prime Minister instead of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Drawing from Durga
Das’ book, India from Curzon to Nehru and After, to point out how the
Mahatma manipulated India’s leaders and masses to do his bidding, it
would not be incorrect to suggest that the Mahatma’s support to the
Khilafat movement led to the massacre of thousands of Hindus and the
rape of hundreds of Hindu women in what is known as the Moplah
massacre.

Responding to that essay, Mr Arun Gandhi wrote that the “Moplah
rebellion” had nothing to do with the Khilafat movement, and that
Gandhi’s support of Nehru was because he wanted to “encourage young
blood in a party dominated by old people”! Mr Gandhi concluded his
rather wayward response by saying that if his grandfather had not
returned to India from South Africa in 1915, the Congress would have
continued to be a “country club,” and that the Hindu Mahasabha and the
RSS “…could have mobilised people into a civil war against Muslims
to teach that Hindustan is for Hindus and they better behave…”,
forgetting that before the Mahatma there were great Congressmen like
Gopal Krishna Gokhale and Bal Gangadhar Tilak who had both indigenised
the Congress and made it a people’s party.

Mr Gandhi later acknowledged a connection between the Khilafat
Movement and the Moplah Massacre. “But history is not often an
accurate recording of events,” he complained, and launched a tirade
against the RSS. I had said nothing about the RSS in my essay, but Mr
Gandhi raised the spectre of a Hindu extremist group that would
ethnically cleanse Muslims out of India. He also accused the 1940s
bureaucrats and politicians of India of collusion in the assassination
of his grandfather.

It is, therefore, not surprising that this loose-lipped Gandhi scion
would pen something so obnoxious as he did for The Washington Post.
But the disciplined Jews would not take this lying down, and Mr Gandhi
has had to resign in shame.

Mr Gandhi’s many cousins, nephews, uncles and aunts have succumbed to
the lore and lure of their famous ancestor. In fact, his son, Mr
Tushar Gandhi, too wags a similar loose tongue, and poses as a
’secular, progressive’ person. Meanwhile, the Mahatma’s grandson
follows in his grandfather’s footsteps, blinkered about political and
religious dynamics. But he lacks the Mahatma’s charisma.
