The recent controversary over the death of the professor @ Ujjain has not yet settled down. But the main highlight is the way the media has behaved on this issue.
Before that, lets look in to the flashback which I got from one of my friend, who is a member of ABVP.
In Most of the college elections in Madhya Pradhesh, the ABVP has been the winner. However, In the Madhav college in ujjain, where the professor succumbed due to heart attack, the NSUI congress has been the dominant party.
But this time, ABVP won 16 Class Representatives out of 28 and was heading towards Historical win of G.S. defeating NSUI after long period.
On the day of incidence, around 1000 odd nsui activists and congres party workers gathered at the gates of college and starts disturbing the situation. They pressurised the Faculty In charge of Election Prof. Nath,Prof Sabarwal and one more. They created disturbance and the three faculty members succumed their pressure and cancelled the Election. No valid reason was specified for the cancellation of the election.
As a result, ABVP activists Gheraoed Principal, Prof. Nath and Prof. Sabharwal and demanded Election to be restored. State President of ABVP Prof. Shashiranjan Akela brought 16 C.R.s and asked administration to explain the reasons of cancellation of Election to them.
Meanwhile Nsui acted rudely and rough handled prof. Nath. He has filed a case against NSUI and 23 NSUI workers arrested.
Prof. Sabharwal said that he is feeling uneasy (He has undergone Bypass surgery) and went away from the scene of Gherao. When he was going out of college on his scooter a group of students stopped his vehicle and asked not to go out unless Election is not restored. There werehot arguments and rough handling among the mob. Prof. fall on the ground and suffered from injury which proved fatal and died while taken to hospital.

The above was the events described by one of my ABVP friend. Its too premature for me to comment on the incidents happened in that college. However, I have some reservations over how the issue was handled by the Media.
1. The professor died of heart attack, but almost all the media had reported as he was murdered by ABVP students.
2. The gheroing of ABVP students was telecasted, while the presence of NSUI students was hidden & overlooked.
3. The media didnt report the full background of the incidents. They just focussed on the issue of the professor’s death.
4. The Hindu has played with emotional sentiments of the victims, while downplaying the response from ABVP leader. Similarly, the Hindustan Times has been highly partial siding with the congress. Same for other major newspaper, like TOI, Outlook etc.
5. Only Indian Express has reported the incident as it is. Only this newspaper reported that the professor died of heartattack while other papers wrote in a way, which portrays the professors death as a murder by ABVP students.

Now my question is: Is there is any sense of moral values, legal binding, and Justice for these newspapers. A newspaper is supposed to be neutral atleast in the sensitive issues. But the indian media doesnt care about that. Why should they? Who is going to make them accountable.. The victim is not going to ransack their office or persons. So why should they care. On the other hand, if they wrote anything about the congress, they will no longer be able to continue their business.
After all, they are backed by a powerful lobby, internationally.. Its up to the reader to guess who is behind them….
Rigth from manipulation of Gujarat riots, to the hiding of the congress and sonia in the Volcker oil scam, the reliability of the media has utterly gone down. The twisting of the truth will always continue, until the victims raise against the injustice done to them.
Will it happen? Will the twisting of truth ever stop?
